Vice Rector's Message

Welcome to the Female Students Campus at King Saud University, the leading university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was founded in 1957, subsequently in 1961 the female section was established and females were admitted into KSU, making it the first university to offer higher education for females in KSA. I am pleased that you visited the Female Section site with all its colleges and deans.

KSU has made remarkable achievements in women's education progress, under a wise leadership's support and special attention to women's education, and a supportive administration keen to make KSU one of the leading educational institutions in KSA. This is part of KSU's strategy to manage outstanding academic and research programs, and to create an attractive environment for students, researchers, and distinctive national and international faculty members, which in turn would achieve global leadership in building the knowledge economy.

We at the Female Students Campus seek to help our students to determine their future; hence we devote all our resources to hone students’ skills and knowledge to enhance their participation in achieving the Kingdom's Vision and to build educated generations that can compete regionally and internationally. Our cadres, students and graduates are the driving force behind our greatest achievements. Therefore we handpick our students, provide them with knowledge, nurture their skills and creativity, and provide them with tools and training to empower them as future leaders.

We take pride in our commitment to qualify and train cadres through distinct educational curricula, research programs, and innovative teaching strategies and methods. We are also very proud of the caliber of our faculty and researchers and value their contribution towards our goal of building the knowledge society. We also take great pride of our distinguished partnerships with pioneer national and international institutions which ensures the quality of scientific performance, skills and values of our graduates. Female Students Campus In Brief

King Saud University has received the special attention of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz in terms of endless supportive care and generous funding, a matter that enabled it to achieve many of its objectives and accomplish a large number of strategic projects. One of the most prominent projects is the Female Student Campus, located in the eastern corner of King Saud University in Ad-dirayah, on an area of (1. 232.000) square meters, at a cost of (8.3) billion riyals. The campus consists of (12) colleges: (5) health colleges, (4) humanities colleges, (3) science colleges, in addition to administrative buildings, supporting deanships’ buildings, service buildings, recreational facilities, and a dormitory. The campus, which accommodates (30.000) female students, was officially inaugurated at the beginning of the new academic year 1434-1435 AH, and all the colleges will have transferred to it by the beginning of the second semester, God willing.

The Female Student Campus is one of the biggest and most important projects; it is uniquely well-designed, well-implemented, easily accessed, catering academic and non-academic services. The campus design observes the culture-specific character of Saudi society with regard to the girls’ education environment, and the tools and methods necessary for interactive higher education, serving the university’s aspired pioneering goal of excellence locally and internationally.

The Female Student Campus was designed to be integrative in services and facilities, in line with the latest architectural easy-access foundations. It takes into account the ease-of-access requirements of people with special needs. In order to achieve the technological objectives of the university serving the quality of the educational process, an integrated system of e-learning and distance learning has been the implemented in accordance with the latest specifications and standards ensuring ease of communication among faculty and female students inside and outside the university. The implementation of construction work took into consideration accessibility and non-stop operation of the campus facilities.

In order to achieve the university’s strategic objectives of quality and pioneering, locally and internationally, and to move from traditional education environments into interactive learning setting, integrating female and male sections, the best techniques of distance and e-learning were designed, and adopted, covering all campus buildings including (610) smart classes, (160) distance learning halls, (39) educational amphitheaters (3) event and celebration theaters, a center for celebrations and exhibitions, (235) science laboratories, (160) computer labs, (140) meeting halls, and (14) surveillance management, and control centers. The buildings have been equipped with the most up-to-date smart technologies including 400 digital advertisements monitors, and 100 information kiosks. Buildings were also equipped with smart card services, digital information kiosks, and each college is equipped with special distance control and management rooms hooked up to a central control room.

To enable King Saud University female departments to manage their affairs in order to provide female students with a self-motivating environment with global leadership in science, health and humanities majors.

To provide a supportive educational and research environment capable of fostering distinguished education in University colleges, providing the kingdom with national female leaderships who can develop community, build knowledge economy and community, and adopt distinguished community partnerships that provide quality services locally, regionally and internationally.

  • Providing support for female students by developing academic guidance, raising awareness of their rights and duties, and encouraging participation in the various campus activities.

  • Creating an incentive educational environment through improving classrooms, laboratories, and learning resources, and providing various facilities, services and utilities for colleges.

  • Setting an outstanding research environment to support scientific research, global cooperation, and activating the role of research groups in female departments with a view to building the knowledge economy.

  • Providing adequate financial resources, establishing an endowment and diversifying financial resources for female humanities colleges.

Quality

  • Improving the quality of the educational input and output by setting standards for attracting outstanding students, especially post-graduates, and qualifying graduates for the labor market by enhancing their capacities.

  • Activating community-based strategic partnerships through building communication with all sectors inside and outside the university to the benefit of community service.
